Yesterday was one of my favorite experiences we’ve ever had in Crowded House, our student service. We had the whole Rebelbase family, grades 7-12, all in one room due to some logistical challenges, and decided to try something a little different with our time. After a sweet time of worship, Jeremy gave a short 5 minute introduction to the concept of doubt; how its not a sin to question things, and how its healthy to seek out the answers to the things that are hard for us to believe. We then broke up into small groups, and shared our biggest doubts and questions concerning our faith. It was an overwhelming thing to look out over a group of 450 students, all being vulnerable with each other. It was a true glimpse of what “family” is supposed to look like.
We handed out notecards and had each person anonymously write down their biggest doubt, which we then compiled and posted on our “Going Public” blog site. There was no resolution to any of these doubts on the spot…that will come later. The point was just to make sure we all know this is a place where doubts are welcome, and having it all together is not a requirement for being part of the family.

…and remember, the only way doubts become a bad thing is if we do nothing to seek their resolution.
